I just wanted to share with you that I’ve done it again!!! Not a husband, not a baby……but three weeks ago in New York, I stopped at the place where I found Minnie, and fell in love with an 8 week old, 14 oz teacup Chihuahua puppy…..a short haired in an unusual color called “Blue”, which is kind of a dark steel gray color (no pun intended). I’ve wrestled with the idea for 3 weeks, not wanting to make the teacup Chihuahua I have now, Minnie, unhappy. I love her and don’t want her to be jealous or feel pushed out. My kids (those I admitted it to) said I was crazy (but they always do about another dog), and they said that travelling with two dogs would be too hard, and they could be right, but I’ll manage. I used to travel with 9 kids, so 2 Chihuahuas shouldn’t be impossible……and you know how love is….I picked her up yesterday, and she and Minnie seemed to like each other, and they played yesterday and this morning. So here I go again, I have a puppy in my life. She is now 11 weeks old, weighs a pound and a half. I think she’ll be a little bigger than Minnie (who weighs 2 lbs now as an adult). It’s a complication I don’t need to my otherwise well organized life, but as I’ve said before, love is complicated, life is complicated….and why not? So here we go. I will include a photo for you here. Right now, she is mouse-sized. I named her Baby Blue Angel, and we’ll probably call her Blue. So here she is.

I think Baby Blue Angel is so adorable and so is little Minnie. I love animals too. I adopted my little Terrier Chihuahua mix (at least that’s what the shelter told me) about 2 years ago. He’s been such a comfort to my own mother who after the death of my brother years ago and retiring from work, I was afraid she would get tire and depressed. But my mom has more energy than I do. He’s such a sweet baby we just love him dearly.
Congrats on your new member to the family.
I love it-I almost did the same a few weeks ago-worried about my
present little one and decided not to. You “gotta” add to you book
about doggies. Enjoy so much and look forward to Monday’s blog. Thanks
Oh, what sweetness. And a perfect companion for Minnie, too.
It has been so long since I dropped by here, and now I shall go and try to catch up with some of your posts. Hope your fall is going lovely!
Has Minnie met Blue? I thinks she may like someone her size around.
My favorite has always been the Chihuahua. I had a full breed Chihuahua for seventeen years. Unfortunately, his back gave him a lot of pain because the bones were narrowing so it was almost impossible for him to lift up his back legs. But, I got another Chihuahua and dachshund. He is so cute. I love him but I could never forget my dog Tiny. Congradulations, on your two little babies.
Ms. Steel. I have always enjoyed reading all your books. I haven’t been able to find one of your new ones called Pure Joy. Is there any way you could send me one. I would gladly pay for it. I am also a dog lover. That is a very cute puppy. Thank you for all your books.
just finished pure joy and loved it especially the photos. i was reminded of my first grade teacher showed the class a picture of her teacup in her apron pocket then her husband brought in the real thing for show & tell. i am now 65 but still remember how amazing it was to see such a tiny dog. i recently read GIANT GEORGE which is the other end of the spectrum enjoy your 2 babies. i had a feeling you were going to get MM a playmate.
