Paris at Christmas Time

After Thanksgiving, I often try to squeeze in one more trip to Paris, before my kids come home to California for Christmas. And Paris is a gorgeous place to be before or during the holidays. In recent years, in California anyway, there seem to be fewer Holiday decorations as people become more and more politically correct. And I have to admit, I miss them. In Paris, people still go all out with holiday decorations. Beautiful lights everywhere, wonderful store windows, natural green and flocked white Christmas trees for sale—-and even red ones (that really are cute and fun looking!!). The lights on the Champs Elysees are spectacular, with lights that appear to fall from the top of the trees. A big ferris wheel is put up, special lighting on the Eiffel Tower—the whole city looks festive, and between the weather and the decorations, it really feels like an old-fashioned Christmas here. And it really gets you in the mood. There are even little tents set up in certain locations, selling gifts and Christmas wares.

I hope you’re getting ready for the Holidays and enjoying it too (although this time of year is soooo hectic!!!) When I go back to California, we are going to make brownies for our friends. That’s an annual tradition for us,(the kids used to line up to lick the bowls!!)

So Joyeux Noel from Paris, I’ll be writing to you from San Francisco soon!!! Love, danielle

I love you, your books are a tranquil place for me to be at times in my life. I have all your books and I am wondering can I get the Southern Lights in paperback yet? I hope you have a Happy New Year!

We didn’t put up as many lights on the house as we use to. We put up our tree that looks like a real one, we’ve had it for over twenty years and looks beautiful every year. The lighted deer and tree for our neighbor’s children to see before they go to bed at night has turned into a tradition we have been doing for the past four years. The lit deer, next to the steps and a big beautiful wreath lit up with lights on the front door to welcome all who come to visit. Here is wishing you and your family all the best at this happy holiday season and a Happy New Year.
