Winter Daze

Hi Everyone,

As I’ve mentioned to you before, winter is heavy writing time for me. I work on outlines for new books, write a new book, and read research for books I’m working on for the future, and do a LOT of editing, as always. As I write this, I am waiting for a manuscript to arrive, with comments from my editor, which I was going to work on today, and it’s stuck in a blizzard somewhere in the East. (Which gives me a day off today, which is rare for me this time of year!!!) It’s a good time of year to write, it’s cold everywhere I live, the weather is usually lousy, snowy, rainy, cold, and I’m happy staying indoors to work, with the occasional break, having dinner with one of my kids, in whichever city I’m in. We celebrated my youngest son’s birthday last week, which was fun, and I’m enjoying spending time with whichever one is available and willing to share a meal with me, and the rest of the time I work.

My daughters who work in fashion are crazed at the moment, working at fashion week, and travelling from New York to London to Paris, to work on fashion week in each city. And some years, one of them works in Milan too. It sounds like a fun job, and I’m sure it is, but it’s also LOT of work.

Winter seems like a good time of the year to work hard, whatever business you’re in, there’s a lot less to do outside, unless you live in Florida or Hawaii or someplace warm!!!

I’ll be reporting to you soon about some of the fashion shows I go to.  And my very exciting news is that my latest hardcover, “Until the End of Time” opened on the New York Times Bestseller list yesterday at #1, and my current hardcover “Betrayal” is #2. And they’re #2 on the EBook list!!! I never get blasé about that, and am always grateful and excited when a book is doing well. It’s thrilling, no matter how many bestsellers you’ve had. It’s kind of like winning a race!!! Very, very exciting for me. I hope you read either of them. I’m very excited about “Until the End of Time”, it’s a really sweet book and I love the story about two couples, forty years apart, whose fates are intertwined. Read the book and find out!!! It’s one of my favorite books!!!

We’re working on picking covers for the books coming out next fall, and I’m really excited about that too!! So much thought and so many decisions go into the preparation for a book, and it’s a really pretty cover. “Until the End of Time” has a beautiful cover too!!!

So I’m thinking of you, working hard, and hope that all is well with you!!!

Love, Danielle

Hello Ms. Steel. You are super busy and still have time to update your blog. Amazing time management.Thank you for the fans service. I have read BETRAYAL, and really like it. It teaches me a lesson to always be careful of who you trust. Currently I am reading Legacy, I really like the cover of the book from CORGI BOOKS. Have a great day!

    Dear Mrs. Steel,
I just finished reading your book “Matter of the Heart”. A good read on a snowy day here in Crans Montana, Switzerland. Very exciting, well-written with a lot of suspense. You should write a book number 2, I would love to see a continuation of the story unfold…
I love the way you write!

Since I read your book about Nick I have been amazed on your ability to touch people with your gift of words. I am sure in your life time you have experienced where people use words like wepons.I am experiencing that right now.Just one single word can tear a persons soul away. This gift of communication that we all can do you have mastered to reach so many people. Words can be arranged to help, hurt, learn, communicate….it is our most important tool in life. Your lifes path being a writer has touched more lives more than anyone I know or could ever imagine. Do you have anymore books planned that are about real life experiences like His Bright Light, Although I like your books by me reading that book first I find myself thinking what your ability with writing could do in this world. Your gift has helped people, touched hearts and souls, changed lives. I as a person so brutally bullied from people using words to hurt, keep going because of your example of how words can be put to a greater good, thank you for being such a bright example to the world of the potential all we humans can do with our gift of words.

    Dear Danielle,
Throughout the years your books have been a part of my life. They seem to touch on experiences, emotions and situations I am going through. The characters become my friends. Recently I was divorced, my children moved away, or went off to college and I found myself alone in too big of a house with very little money. I decided to rent out part of my home. It was a scary, stressful time. I came across your book 44 Charles Street. Your book brought tears, memories and continued hope that when we open our hearts it is then we begin to live.
I continue to rent. I love the hustle bustle and hearing the clamor in the kitchen, or the laughter coming from the dining room. Thank you for writing. Looking forward to how your next book will touch my life.
