12/21/21, Happy Christmas!!!

Hi Everyone,

I hope you’re doing well in these frantic last few days before Christmas, and today is the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year. (I prefer the longest day of the year in June), but long winter nights can be cozy.

The new variant Omicron is causing lots of concern around the globe. The hope seems to be that although it’s possibly more contagious, hopefully it will be less deadly, and that the virus is getting weaker. It’s rotten luck that it’s gotten underway and is gaining speed right around the holidays. I was in New York a few days ago, where the numbers are high, and there was a feeling of panic in the air. It was extremely unnerving, my daughters and I cancelled all our plans, including a birthday celebration and dinner for one of them, but it just didn’t feel safe to any of us, even eating outdoors. Since then, I’ve cancelled my office Christmas party, and we have reduced our family Christmas day dinner to a gift exchange with masks and no meal, in order to be as safe as we can be.

But whatever the circumstances, I wish you a healthy, peaceful safe Christmas, with people you love and who love you. I wish you the warmth of friends, and the closeness of all whom you hold dear. I hope you have a very, VERY happy Christmas wherever you are, and whoever you spend it with!!!

with all my love,  Danielle

Happy Holidays! I just finished reading your book called Echoes. I was taken back by your story, and reading every chapter felt like I was there. I can’t help but think we are so fortunate to live in these times and tremendously grateful, nevertheless appreciate all whom made a difference back then… My Mum and Dad were in the war and although they never spoke to us about it…it makes me think differently of what they and others went though years ago. Thank you kindly for writing your books, your detailed writings always keep me on edge until the very last paragraph. Thank you!

Now, Wishing all the best for a Happy New Year. (2022) With kind regards, Dale M. Avery/Grand Cayman Islands/BWI

    Hi Danielle,
It’s been a long time, to long in fact.. this is Anthony Saunders from Richard Tam and Tom Perkins Villa dei Tramonti estate. I think about you often and always had the utmost respect for you as you were always very kind to me. Never once making me feel inferior but always cordial and always smiling. I for one will never forget the times you and Mr.P came up to theVilla in Napa as you brought a certain charm that only you could bring.
I’m finding myself alone in a hotel room a UC Davis cancer center with my partner Justin Hiltgen whom I have been together with for many years now.He has a large Melenoma tumor that is finally being removed today and not sure what treatments they will do for his infected Lymph Knodes, time will tell. I’ve actually just got the text that surgery has started.. We live a modest life in Graniteville California but at the moment we’re snowed out of home and will be unable to return after Justin’s surgery due to the much needed snowfall. Our 2 kids or dogs are being well cared for by a wonderful couple so I am greatful to them. We need all the help we can get to find housing close to UC Davis and or means to get us back and forth from the Nevada City area to UCDavis in Sacramento. My longtime girlfriend in Napa started a gofundme page for the two of us and if you could possibly share this with others we would be greatful to you. I sure miss the good Ole days at Villa dei Tramonti in Napa but have memories I will cherrish forever and my many conversations with you are top of my list. Thank you for your assistance in this rough delicate time in our lives and Merry Christmas and God Bless.
    Anthony Saunders
