12/7/15, “Lucky”
Hi Everyone,
Busy writing again!! You keep me busy!! But there’s nothing I like doing more, so I am enjoying it thoroughly. Funnily enough, when I’m writing, I get new ideas for future books. And when I’m taking it easy and not writing, everything in my head goes quiet. So working seems to inspire me!!! And definitely agree with me.
I wanted to share the story of one of my bracelets with you. I wear a lot of bracelets on each wrist, many of which were given to me by my children, and all of which are sentimental to me, and I never take them off. People ask if they bother me, and I don’t even feel them, I’m so used to them. I haven’t taken them off in more than 20 years (when I had my last baby, the hospital insisted!!). They stay on my arms at all times, night and day!! Among them, I wear an ebony wood bangle bracelet on my left arm that I particularly love. It has 4 oval gold plaques on it with a saying that means a lot to me. Each plaque has a few words on it that forms a sentence, all put together. It says “You have to believe in luck in order to be lucky”. It’s in French, and a limited number of the bracelets were made by a French jeweler, Van Cleef and Arpels in 1970. I’ve seen it a few times in vintage stores, and always admired it. I love what it says!!! The original ones are expensive and hard to find, and a few years ago one of my daughters who works for a magazine told me that Van Cleef was going to issue a few more, in ebony and dark wood. I rushed to the store in Paris, and ordered one each for each of my daughters, and an extra for a friend, who had been trying to have a baby unsuccessfully for several years. I was SO EXCITED when the bracelets came, and gave them to my girls for Christmas, and to the friend. I put mine on immediately, and I don’t like to be superstitious, but I wear it EVERY day and I just love it, and think of it as my ‘lucky bracelet’. I ALWAYS wear it, and have since I got it…..and the friend I gave it to got pregnant the day she got hers, and has THE MOST ADORABLE little girl you’ve ever seen, who just turned two. The story definitely has a happy ending. So believe yourself lucky, and believe in luck, and you will be!!!

Hi Danielle. I can’t even begin to imagine all of the books you’ve written and plan to write yearly! I am in awe. I have read many,many of your books and each one is a very satisfying read. To say you have a gift is an understatement! Where you get your ideas for your plots is a wonder. I have tried to sit and write and can’t get past a few pages. I admire all of my book authors. Don’t overdo it though ! Your bracelets are obviously very meaningful to you. I like to think that “luck” is really God’s blessings to us and if you believe, you will receive! I guess the potential harm in believing in luck, is that it is random and not God-centered. Anyways have an amazing week filled with beautiful ideas for your books and continued blessings !!!

Love to hear about when you are writing because I can FEEL how much you love it.
Think of all people who read your books. This demonstrates that when you send love out it comes back to you.
But I have to agree with Janine’s comment as not to leave God out. It doesn’t FEEL right.
Perhaps luck can be when Preparation, Opportunity, and the Divine all come together.
Hmmmmmm.
For me, God is an unobstructed path to Hope which sustained me during my darkest hours.
Be in the moment with all your love and inspiration in writing. You also seem to enjoy all your kids too which is awesome.

Hi,Miss Danielle, and thank you for such a wonderful wish in this writing of yours. I hope you always remember that despite a few times I was clueless as to what to learn from your works, I realize your books do teach me a lot about life and what an awesome gift it is, so a lucky day, lucky hour, lucky moment, lucky life as far as I’m concerned always include reading a book or two which you wrote. But how comes as much inspiration and how she saw in her mind the solitude of creation? In fact, if I understand well, once finished, it’s like childbirth, you finally experienced some form of relief and serenity, the child is born !
One day perhaps we will have the opportunity to talk bracelet, but you will have a hard time believing me …!
Like you, I believe in “luck” and do not feel guilty to get away from God for all that, quite the contrary.
Like you, convention of language, when I say that “I’m lucky,” I express my gratitude to experience happiness. Believe in “luck” is to have “faith”.
Until 105 years, it will never be the last baby! What health!

Just started reading your latest book,”Country.” It is the first of yours that I have ever read. Been ignoring you for over thirty years. Thought you were just the usual “Women’s” author.
As a writer myself, I have read many hundred’s of novels over the years. I read yours almost by accident. Saw the book on display at my local library, and, coming from Wyoming,I could identify with the dude on the cover.
I started reading it in the library before I looked at the author. When I finally decided that you were a GREAT writer, and saw that it was you,I wuz blown away. Then, I think I fell in love with you later on in the book! Please! Let me take you to Nashville one of these day.
